Great Oak Steakhouse & Paisanos at Pechanga Resort Casino

In Temecula, California, where the land holds stories older than memory, a project took shape that was about more than architecture, it was about honoring legacy. Great Oak Steakhouse & Paisanos at Pechanga Resort Casino renovation is a tribute to the enduring spirit of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians and the living symbol of their heritage: Wi’áaşal, the Great Oak.

Wi’áaşal is one of the oldest living oak trees in the Western United States, over 1,000 years old and still bearing fruit. To the Pechanga people, it represents strength, wisdom, longevity and determination. These values guided every decision in the transformation of the Great Oak Steakhouse and Paisanos, two of the tribe’s most cherished dining venues.

Coalition Glass was honored to contribute to this vision, bringing precision glazing and metalwork to a project that demanded both technical excellence and cultural sensitivity.

Scope of Work

Coalition Glass delivered a suite of custom architectural systems, including:

  • Steel-framed windows and door.
  • A 217 square foot of custom leaded art glass window.
  • A 532 square foot of all-glass interior wall.
  • 84 square feet of storefront glazing.
  • A 400 square foot of antique mirror feature wall.

Each element was designed to reflect the elegance and depth of the Pechanga story.

A Window Into Culture

At the heart of the project is a breathtaking custom stained-glass window, an artistic centerpiece imagined by Greg Gomolka of Experience Glass and brought to life by Coalition Glass. This 217-square-foot installation features a vibrant mosaic of tree branches and leaves in hues of green, blue, pink and purple. It is more than a decorative element — it is a visual homage to Wi’áaşal, and a symbol of the tribe’s enduring connection to the land.

This piece required close collaboration between artist, architect and fabricator. Coalition Glass ensured that the vision was realized with precision, integrating the artwork seamlessly into the architectural framework while preserving its storytelling power.

Design with Purpose

The antique mirror panels and bronze cladding added layers of texture and reflection, creating a space that invites guests to pause, connect and reflect. The bronze, sourced in narrow 24-inch strips, required a layout strategy that balanced design continuity with fabrication efficiency. Coalition’s engineering team responded with adaptive detailing and precision modeling, ensuring every panel aligned with the architectural rhythm.

Execution with Integrity

Joining the project mid-design, Coalition Glass worked closely with the architect and vendors to align vision with feasibility. On a compact site with active operations, the team executed with discipline, agility and respect for the space and its significance.

A Living Tribute

Completed in 2023, the Great Oak Steakhouse & Paisanos at Pechanga Resort Casino now stands as a living tribute to the tribe’s heritage and future. The glazing systems reflect a belief that architecture can be both functional and sacred, that every detail can carry meaning.

At Coalition Glass, we believe in building with purpose. In this project, we helped tell a story rooted in resilience, shaped by tradition, and carried forward through design.
